According to a report provided by XDA Developers, there will be a new feature in Android 8.1 which will be save some spaces on their handsets. As all knows space is a big issue with the budget Android devices which comes with 8GB or 16GB inbuilt storages.

Users needs to suffer with the low storage notifications. But here is a good news for all those users as Android 8.1 may reduce the size of inactive apps in your device to provide you more space.

How this feature works?

Whenever it's detected that device is running low on space, the feature will be triggered. The feature, once triggered, saves spaces by toning down the inactive apps on the handset.

The algorithm applied in finding out which apps are inactive, is that the device recognize which apps have not been active in the background or been triggered by the user in a while.

When it will be out?

Android 8.1 is currently under Developer Preview stages. The OS version's DP1 was introduced last month. At the time of introducing DP1, Google said that it aims to start rolling out the consumer version of the OS by December this year.
